BMCC Presents 15th Entrepreneurial Summit and 4th Founder's Festival Exploring Diversity & Startups

On May 5th student entrepreneurs, mentors, speakers, and panelists will all converge online on Hopin at this year’s 15th Entrepreneurial Summit from 12 PM- 2 PM and 4th Founder’s Festival from 2 PM- 4 PM Eastern. Tickets for the general public cost $5. Event registration is here.

Panelists kick off the event by discussing how diversity and entrepreneurship are changing due to COVID-19 and the practical ideas and efforts that people are making to foster this change. Panelists will include Maisha Kabir, Vice President of The Diversity Org, Dr. Antoinette Roberson, Exec. Dir. Career Services of Medgar Evers College, and Toni Shoola, Director of Operations of Aleria Research Corporation. Six dynamic speakers will provide startup skill talks including, Alicia Tulsee, CEO of Moxie Scrubs (BMCC Alumni), Ramon Ray, founder of SmartHustle, Dina Tate, founder of Global Girl Squad LLC., Precious Williams, founder of Elevator Pitch at Perfect Pitches by Precious, LLC, Alexander Puutio, an expert at United Nations & WEF Global Shapers Organizer, and David Steingard, CEO of Laughing Man Coffee (BMCC Alumni). Dr. Shane Snipes, the Small Business Entrepreneurship Degree Program Coordinator, Assistant Professor, and Deputy Chairperson of the Business Management Department will be the master of ceremonies. 

 

Following the Summit, students will pitch business ideas at the Founder’s Festival. Many of the students in the summit took part in the Citizen Entrepreneur Explorers program re-connecting them to their neighborhood businesses. +20 mentors offer feedback on students’ business plans and existing businesses. Some mentors include Brett Whysel, co-founder of Decision Fish, LLC, Brian Asingia, Global Executive Advisor & Consultant, Juan Sanchez, Founder & CEO of USA Martial Arts Fitness Academy, among others.

Throughout the event, mentors & attendees will have the opportunity to allocate virtual dollars through the Pre.vc app. $1,000 in cash for business micro-grants provided by Hugh Jackman & David Steingard's Laughing Man Coffee Foundation will be awarded to students, as well as giveaways from New York Distance Learning Association valued at more than $200 each. ###
